This year we are very lucky to have a photographer covering the whole Gala Day.

Sam Boyd is a recent photography graduate with a keen interest in documenting public events in and around Glasgow, something she has been doing for some time now.

We asked her to give us a bit of a background on who she is, what she does and what she likes!

Remember, if you see Sam on Gala Day, give her a wave and a smile, you might just see your photo on the Gibson Street Gala website soon after!

So Sam, tell us a bit about yourself?

I took up photography after leaving school and studied it at both NQ and HND level. Three years on and I’ve just finished my HND in photography and still love it.

What areas of photography interest you?

During my studies, I have been able to explore all different forms of photography and though I enjoyed them all, I’m drawn more towards documenting events, such as this Gala.

So, will you be diving for cover if there’s a bit of…dare we say….drizzle?

Nope, come rain or shine, I’ll be running around with my camera!

Can we see your work somewhere?

Yes, besides my own photo, you’ll find a few of my images in the gallery below. For more head over to my Flickr page  or if you wish, you can contact me by email.

Thanks – we look forward to seeing your photos on the website soon after the Gala!
